Food for Kittens

Always provide dry food and fresh water. I feed my kittens "Mama and Baby Cat" dry and wet food from Royal Canin gradually transitioning them to “Kitten” by the time they are ready to go home. They receive wet food two times a day by the time they are ready to go to their new home I use “Pure Cravings” canned food and I also give them raw beef, chicken, and bonito flakes every other day. Remember, dry food should only be for emergencies. Good food leads to healthy kittens.

How to Introduce New Food to a Kitten

When introducing new food to a kitten, it's essential to do so gradually to avoid upsetting their stomach. Follow this step-by-step process to transition their diet smoothly:

  1. Week 1:

    • Mix 1/3 new food with 2/3 old food in their meals for the entire week.

  2. Week 2:

    • Increase the ratio to 2/3 new food and 1/3 old food for another week.

  3. Observation:

    • Monitor your kitten for any adverse reactions such as diarrhea or vomiting during the transition period.

  4. Full Transition:

    • If there are no adverse reactions after the two-week transition period, you can then feed your kitten the new food exclusively.

By gradually introducing new food following this method, you can help your kitten adjust to their new diet comfortably.
